The overseer of Fort Briar (the structure that would later become Briarstone Asylum). He died during the building’s construction.
In certain chronicles, it is reported that Atherton died in one of the accidents that plagued construction, but the truth is he disappeared, only to be discovered a week later with his entrails strewn across Briarstone Isle. The tragedy was attributed by locals to the infamous Briarstone Witch.
