A human man found bound to a giant leaf in the Enchanted Wood, a prisoner to a group of Lurkers.

In Chapter 110, the party learned his sad history. He had been living a happy life with his wife Jaylin and daughter Nesia. He was a member of the Wildwood Lodge and practitioner of the Green Faith, though not a Druid himself. Then during a hunt for Kelvetta Brix in the Verduran Forest in 4705, his dreaming soul became entangled with hers and one night, while sinking simultaneously through the ethereal membrane, both were drawn into the Dreamlands.

At first, unable to locate any recognizable landmarks, he believed he had passed through a portal to the First World. Then after a time he began to wonder if he was dreaming, but found he was could not wake himself up. Wandering in a strange place, unable to hear the Will of the World, unable to figure out what had happened to him, after weeks and weeks of solitude and desperation, he became a confused lucid dreamer: he was trapped in the Dreamlands, unable to either wake or escape.

After submitting to hypnosis from Dora, Chester was finally able to wake himself up from his nightmare, 13 Real World years after it had begun.

In Chapter 136, Chester was seen on the Night of the Pale in the Real World, sitting amongst a group of people known as the Stardust Augurs. His physical recovery had been slow. He declined to speak his wife’s and daughter’s names, refusing to believe they were dead, and regretted ever having chased after Kelvetta Brix.

In Chapter 142, the party encountered Chester when they crossed paths with the Stardust Augurs. It turned out that his sleeping body had been found by Hadranna Ibren 13 years previously, and that she had cared for him all that time until the party helped him wake up in Chapter 110.

Chester begged Dabwick to scry upon his wife Jaylin, and the spell revealed that she was alive and that she was the woman that Dabwick had known for years as Jaydove. Chester told Dabwick that Desna had been appearing in his dreams in the form of a dove, leading him on a pursuit of his wife through the Enchanted Wood, and that she had also showed him a small tree frog, which Chester believed to have represented Dabwick.

Chester boarded the Sellen Starling and traveled aboard it to Cassomir, helping to take care of the slumbering party.

In Chapter 151, it was revealed that Chester and Jaydove took care of the party and Barnabus during the 67 days that they slept following their visit to the Mad Poet’s Oasis. Chester also shared with Dabwick an overview of all that had happened since they last enacted the Dreamlands Excursion ritual.

In Chapter 168, Chester revealed to Dabwick that their daughter Nesia died during the many years he’d lain sleeping and that he and Jaydove were going to look at their situation with Persephone as the opportunity to be parents which they had been robbed of.

Before departing Cassomir in Chapter 171, Dabwick stopped by Jaydove and Chester’s one last time to say goodbye and extend their thanks.
