An entity first referenced in Grip's first dream in Chapter 5. Something living in the sewers beneath a city by the sea, something locked in an endless cycle of consumption and waste.
Gull seemed to have knowledge of the Corpse Orgy in his former life as well: the name emerged in his dream in Chapter 8.
In the Act III Epilogue, the Corpse Orgy was revealed to reside in (or beneath) the city of Okeno, in an area called the Sweatways.
In Chapter 175, it was learned that the Corpse Orgy was perhaps created by beings known as the Pactmasters.
In Chapter 185, Bash reflected on how the Corpse Orgy’s (entire?) purpose was to roam the Sweatways and prevent the escape of slaves and prisoners. It was believed to be “a rolling ball of dead slaves” that kills anything it comes across, and then adds their body to its horrific mass.
In Chapter 188, the party recalled more information about the creature’s history. It is seemingly a unique entity, and very few have ever survived encountering it. But the historical record does seem to indicate that it first manifested during the Time of Rent Sails and was birthed out of the pain and anguish of the slaves that died while being moved through those tunnels. That the corpses left to rot down there took on a life of their own and rose up to fight back on behalf of the victims. So, a millennia ago, the Corpse Orgy was actually a bogey man to the slavers, who feared it and moved quickly to avoid encountering it.
However, when the Pactmasters came, the last thing they wanted was an entity in the tunnels that would help people attempting to escape, so they captured it and apparently dominated it to do their will. And so this thing that was once dedicated to hunting down and destroying anyone who took slaves now serves to make it impossible for anyone to escape captivity through the tunnels below its streets.
Also in Chapter 188, Tharivol used the Commune spell to learn that the Corpse Orgy was not an Undead creature, but actually an Aberration. They learned it was Evil, subject to mind-affecting effects, and had the means of detecting the presence of invisible creatures.
