DEITY
Known as the Song of the Spheres, the Great Dreamer, or Mother Moon. Chaotic Good goddess of freedom, travel, and luck. An ancient goddess, credited with the creation of the heavens.
The holiday known as the Ritual of Stardust is celebrated by her worshippers on the two solstices.
In a meditation vision, Dabwick’s parents prayed to her to protect their child.
In Chapter 110, the party reviewed the way dreaming 'works'–information they learned from The Chain of Nights.
In Chapter 129, while reflecting on a memory from their past, Dabwick recalled being told that Desna can visit mortals in their dreams, taking one of many possible forms: a star, a butterfly, or cloud, to name a few.
In Chapter 135, Har-Lar shared a similar idea with Vik: that Desna visits mortals in their dreams and takes many forms. He counseled Vik to look harder at the vision of Death that was stalking his dreams and to wonder if it wasn’t, actually, the Great Dreamer in a different form, trying to provide a warning or message.
In Chapter 142, the threads of multiple tales came together when the party was reunited with Chester Bindlay in the Real World. They learned that while Chester had been sleeping for 13 years, traveling through the Enchanted Wood, Desna had been appearing to his wife Jaylin in the form of a dove, leading her through her nightly dreams of a great forest. The visions she’d given Jaylin (now known as “Jaydove”) had led her to manipulate Dabwick into taking their journey north on the Sellen Starling. After the party woke Chester up in Chapter 110, Desna had then appeared to Chester in his dreams, also as a dove, leading him to a small tree frog.
In Chapter 160, Jaydove spoke with Dabwick in greater detail about her relationship with Desna and how she uses her faith to pursue orcaular visions.
