During the Skum attack on the Sellen Starling in Chapter 50 (Part 2), he helped protect the Briarstone survivors from the Great Harvest.
Mate on the Starling. Stocky build, but tall for a halfling. Early 40’s, olive skin, blue eyes. Always looks exhausted, even when very well rested. Apprenticing with boatswain, quartermaster, and the carpenter. Oversees fitting out the anchor, and in port, he is responsible for the sails, yards, mooring on the ship, etc.
In Chapter 100, Wreben recommended Joshua to Grip as someone to talk to about his personal struggles.
In Chapter 136, Joshua shared his full name: “I learned the Way of the Waves on this vessel. I am Joshua Starling Lonepenny.” And while sharing a story about his deceased friend Horace, he revealed that he used to make his living as a bare-knuckle boxer.
