a.k.a. The Prisoner, Elari
Genderless, seemingly alien, being speaking with flat intonation.
The characters heard its voice telepathically at the beginning of the Act I Prologue. In its effort to probe their minds (“identify the nature of the interference… commence probing”), it discovered that their memories had been erased (“They don’t know who they are… wake up, wake up, if you can’t remember—”).
In the Act I Epilogue, it attempted to contact the party again. Instead of searching through their conscious and unconscious minds, it tried to search for their memories via their subconscious connection to the Dimension of Dreams. In the process, it stirred up shared memories of meeting the Stranger.
In the Act II Prologue, it was in a dark cell bemoaning its fading connection to the PCs. Chained by the neck, wrists and ankles, sitting in its own waste, it was in agony and fearing its own death—a concept nearly unfathomable for it considered dying to be the greatest crime it could possibly commit against its own species. It had just reached out to the PCs and failed to connect through the moment of their births as individuals—instead finding only memories from their later childhoods. It instead attempted to locate them by means of another birth. But then its connection to the characters was cut as they left Briarstone Isle behind.
In the Act II Epilogue, the Prisoner was seen weeping, terrified that after the death of Ray there was no hope left to it.
While traveling to the Dreamlands on their final Dream Quest, Dora, Vik, and Grip had a vision of the Prisoner as an old woman chained in a grim granite cell.
In Chapter 145, Dora meditated on the sound of the bells they’d been hearing every time they crossed into the Dreamlands and realized that they were real-world objects being heard by the Prisoner from inside Biting Lash’s fortress in Okeno, and this cowering woman has been desperately trying to reach them.
In the Act III Epilogue, after Dora, Grip, and Vik recovered the memories of their previous lives, the Prisoner finally established contact with them, and pleaded with them to “Wake up! Save me!”
In Chapter 158, while sorting through the aftermath of putting down the Seeded Corpse Puppets in Harrigan's Warehouse, Bash, Grip, and Pandora received communication directly from the Prisoner, while they were fully conscious.
In Chapter 161, on the brink of entering Miacknian Mun’s home in the Blackwood Swamp, Bash, Grip, and Pandora received yet another warning from the Prisioner, transmitted into their conscious minds.
In Chapter 170, the Prisoner contacted Dabwick, Grip, and Pandora while they slept and sent a series of images that comprised the beginnings of a history of the Great Race of Yith on Golarion. While discussing the dream amongst themselves in Chapter 171, they recognized that the Prisoner was also communicating the fact that it, itself, was a Yithian.
The Prisoner continued sharing the story of the Great Race of Yith on Golarion in a second dream in Chapter 173.
In the same chapter, upon arriving at the Mysterium, Bash, Grip, and Pandora received yet another warning from the Prisioner transmitted into their conscious minds. This identical message was heard by Stazi, Stanhope, Tharivol, and Nheb shortly after they entered the Mysterium in Act IV Interlude Part 2.
The Prisoner continued sharing the story of the Great Race of Yith on Golarion with first one dream and then another in Chapter 175.
In Chapter 185, the Prisoner—revealed to be named Kaklatath—sent a final vision that showed how twenty Yithians were abandoned by their kind, left on Golarion to guard the wards that kept the Flying Polyps trapped below the earth. But after many ages, it now seems that the wards have been breached.
