Gargantuan, unstoppable, killing-machine abominations originally created by the Elder Things on some distant planet as part of their foul rites and worship of the Outer Gods.
Ooze-like creatures composed of fast-moving heaps of malformed eyes, mouths, organs, limbs, and tentacles. Their species develops through three stages of growth:
PROTO-SHOGGOTHS are the smallest version of these creatures. Medium-sized creatures that focus on grappling and injecting other living creatures with their alien enzymes, which overtake their victims’ bodies and transform them into new Proto-Shoggoths. The Proto-Shoggoths encountered in the Mysterium in Act IV Interlude 4 demonstrated unusually high (for an Ooze) AC and Damage Reduction of some sort. They also moved fairly quickly for an Ooze, at 30 ft. per round.
When two Proto-Shoggoths encounter each other, they attempt to merge. If they succeed, they become a Proto-Shoggoth Syncytium.
SYNCYTIUMS are twice the size of the Proto-Shoggoths. They possess a rudimentary intelligence and gain the ability to emit a confusing babble of voices. They are quite speedy, moving at 40 ft. per round.
They also have the capacity to merge with others of their kind, and if two Syncytiums merge, the resulting life form is a full Shoggoth.
SHOGGOTHS are even larger than the Syncytiums. They possess even more intelligence and speed, and their cacophony of babbling voices is considerably more potent.
