In the Chapter 28 psychometry vision of Vatticus' wedding bandGulliver Vatticus specifically warned a young Ray (along with an unnamed companion) not to go to “the house at the end of Market Street.”

In Chapter 33, Gull identified the end of Market Street in Thrushmoor as being the place where the “Wailing House” was located. His vague memory recounted it as an old abandoned mansion, a place where children dare each other to spend the night.

In Chapter 44, Ray and Grip visited the site and found a three-story building from another era, completely falling apart, boarded up and fenced in.

In Chapter 72, Dora entered the Wailing House and encountered Ray haunting it as a Ghost.

In Chapter 73, Ray’s ghost experienced a partial memory of walking down Market Street to the Wailing House, hand in hand with his little sister Daria. He urged Daria to enter the abandoned mansion even though she was scared to do so.
