On the night of the 13th of Kuthona, the party had dreams that seemed to be free of Xhamen-Dor‘s influence:
Dora dreamt of sitting in front of a mirror while Barnabus circled her speaking in Aklo, flicking through his forms. The mirror disappeared and Thema was there instead. The box appeared between them: metal, hinged cover, perfectly square, lockbox-sized, bigger on the inside. Dora reached for it, but Thema stopped her, warning her silently not to open it.
Grip dreamt of running across a desert landscape (akin to his first dream), and as he looked at the mountain toward which he ran, he saw that the Sellen Starling was atop it. He climbed to the crow’s nest and looked out over a landscape flickering between desert and water, and then he heard Ray address him from below, asking what he was doing up there and pointing out that he was surrounded by spiders. Suddenly, Grip was on a catwalk with giant spiders. Ray was there to say he told him so, before turning into an Ettercap as Grip fell.
Dabs dreamt themself on the deck of the Sellen Starling, but they changed into a large white seabird. They flew higher and higher, shrinking into a falcon, and saw the path ahead towards Cassomir.
Vik dreamt of waking and seeing the Yellow King, his “best friend,” at his desk. Vik was telling him about the wild dreams he’d been having, but then the Tatterman appeared to warn him: “You forgot about me. You forgot about how she sent me after you. You forgot about all those things that happened. Don’t forget.”
